When I was in elementary school, my parents took me to see Annie on stage. They even bought me a cassette tape of the score (dating myself here). I spent countless hours listening to it on my Walkman (again, dating myself) and belting out the tunes along with Annie (horribly off tune). When I heard that Annie was soon to be released as a movie, I immediately started making plans to see it. Because Annie! Although this is an adapted version of the original, it still sounds pretty fun, especially for kids. Check out the official site from Sony Pictures to learn more about the movie, directed by Will Smith and Jay-Z.

I was lucky enough to get an Annie prize pack and I have one to giveaway to you, too. The prize pack includes:
- One (1) official ANNIE kids shirt - photo
- One (1) 'Build A Brighter Tomorrow' activity book - photo
- One (1) sticker sheet - photo
- One (1) Scholastic ANNIE poster - PDF

Check out the shirt!
I love the baseball shirt style and especially love that it can be worn by a boy or a girl. I am hoping that once we get ours, Luke and I can go see the movie.

To enter the giveaway, simply answer this question: If you're a fan of Annie, what is your favorite song? ["It's a hard knock life... for MEEEEE"] If you're not overly familiar with the songs, tell me why you might like to see the movie.
Giveaway closes one week from tomorrow, Friday, December 26th.

Although I was given a prize pack for this post, all opinions are my own

I love the original Annie with Carol Burnett singing Little Girls - LOL! So funny! Hard Knock Life is fun too - my daughter was involved with the elementary school theater a couple years ago, and they sang and acted out that scene - it was so cute!!

I wore the record OUT when I was a little girl!!! Vinyl!!! Oh man, so so good. I loved all of the songs, and of course Tomorrow is a huge favorite, especially to sing. But I think my favorite is "I Think I'm Gonna Like it Here." I loved how sweetly ignorant she was about her new life. I can still see her wide eyes and "oooh" mouth during that whole song. :)

Oh my gosh...I was OB-SESSED with Annie when I was little! My parents took me to see the stage version of it when I was in first grade, and bought me the vinyl record of the soundtrack (who's dating themselves now!?). I listened to that record over and over and over. I would choreograph dances and reenact the play (always as Annie of course....my sister got to be Miss Hannigan!). Just last month for my 40th birthday my husband went old-school and bought me a record player and secretly had my parents wrap up my old Annie record for me for my birthday! BEST GIFT EVER! I'm pretty sure my kids thought I was crazy because I can still sing every single word. Oh - and my favorite song? It's a Hard Knock Life, of course!

Allison just asked about going to see this one. I insist she watches the original first! Hmmm, I think Hard Knock Life would be my favorite. It's such a catchy tune. I heard it on t.v. the other day and had to stop and listen all the way through :)

We're going to see it tomorrow... but I'm equal parts excited and scared. They're messing with my very favourite movie of all time. I know it's going to be different, but STILL.

My favourite song (ALL OF THEM) is 'Maybe'.

(Although Hard Knock Life is the funnest.... I used to pause and re-play my VHS tape over and over to learn the dance sequence.)

I haven't watched it, but it's on my to-do list this holiday season. I have read the book :)
