You Capture: Food

So, I was very excited about this week's You Capture, because I set out this morning to make an apple-based recipe out The Pioneer Woman Cooks. I used to bake a lot, but I have not much in the past few years, so I'm trying to find my way back to that.

I was all cocky and excited because I used my mom's pie crust recipe (my mom's an amazing baker), and it was the BEST I'd ever done.

I was all, IN YOUR FACE, KITCHEN, as I moved on the apples.

What is it they say about pride? It goeth before a fall. Or a cut, in my case, when my thumb got into a fight with a Pampered Chef apple corer and guess who won? HINT: Not my thumb. So, one trip to the Urgent Care later, I'm sporting a super sweet dressing on my thumb (which will thankfully be JUST FINE in due time), and my Thanksgiving will be less one apple dessert.

And then, I burned my S'mores Pop Tarts, proving that today, food is not my friend.

It's okay, because I'm pretty sure we'll be BFFs again tomorrow. Except for the part where I really can't hold a fork. Or type, as it took me approximately 200 years to finish this post.

Oh goodness gracious! Maybe it's just you and the kitchen that aren't friends today. :) Let Shane man the kitchen this weekend. :) HUGS!

Shane should continue kitchen duties to allow you more time to focus on the important things like eating cinnamon rollls, candy, donuts, cupcakes....& of course coffee!

Holy smokes! I hope you showed that apple corer what you thought of it!

I clicked over from the You Capture post and...OUCH! I have that same Pampered Chef apple corer, and it's a pretty scary contraption!

NO NO NO! this is NOT the way baking was supposed to go! (ahem. i may or may not have had a brief minor mental freakout at the thought of the apple corer incident. did i ever mention that my fear of knives actually covers anything sharp and capable of cutting skin? :p)

Oh, I am so sorry!! Happy recovering...and for the record, I bet that pie would have turned out great if you hadn't encountered the sinister end of the Pampered Chef thingy.

Oh poor you! Oh well, does some one else gets to bake the apple dessert for you??

Oh no! Your poor thumb. I once cut off the tip of my finger with a Pampered Chef finger slicer. Like you, it's okay though. My Pampered Chef products and I will always be BFFs.
If it's any comfort, that dough does look perfect.
And on the upside, you'll have to be completely off the clean-up detail tomorrow.

Holy Cow! I did the EXACT SAME THING with my Pampered Chef apple slicer!!! Those things are lethal. I still love to use it, but I am also slightly terrified of it now, and I only use the end of a butter knife to knock the apple slices out.

Hope you can still get the turkey to your mouth tomorrow!

Ouch!! Sorry to hear about your thumb. I hope you heal quickly! Everything up until that point looked and sounded great, though!

Oh no! I hope your thumb gets better. Or not. I think it's awesome your hubby bathed you!

I would totally just eat those apples like they are. Delicious!

That is *precisely* why I let my man do all the cooking. Much safer that way. Hope your thumb's better soon.

Ouch! Hope that heals well and quickly. You can still be proud, pie crusts are HARD!!! But the photos are good.

DUDE.

This is the kind of stuff I do. And Pampered Chef was sent here to destroy me, I'm certain.

Happy Thanksgiving, yo.

I was all grossed out because I thought the burnt poptarts were bloody bandages at first. It wasn't quite as bad when I really looked (because I'm that morbid, that I would check out bloody bandages) and figured out it was burnt poptarts. LOL. Hope your thumb heals quick! I sliced both my hands, right above the wrist with an apple corer once. OUCH!

At least you got some good shots in before the fight! No fun.

Oh no! I hope your thumb heals up quickly!

The worst kitchen accident i've ever had, was scalding my fingers with hot hot hot sugar!

I hope you and your kitchen are okay now. :)

Oh no! My Mom's pie crust is killer too. Although I have never been injured while making it : ) Great picture. Such a funny commentary : )

Ouch, hope your thumb is feeling better and you've been managing to take some shots for this weeks challenge.

I love the way everyone has a different interpretation of the subject. Good luck with your next baking project.
