Love in the time of nachos

Yesterday out of nowhere, Shane said, Was last year our fifth anniversary? Is this June going to be our sixth? Did we not do anything special last year? Thankfully because of this blog, I was able to look back and see that we went out for sushi, which isn't a big thing but was perfect for us. Especially since we promptly forgot that we did anything at all.

Lately I've been so happy and content with our marriage. Of course we fight and sometimes he annoys me and all the time he snores so loud that I consider smothering him in his sleep. But. He also gives me butterflies after all these years and makes me dinner every night and gave me two beautiful boys. I'm really very lucky.

What do YOU think love is? Love for me is this one thing in particular. When I eat nachos, I like to soak the chips in the cheese so when I eat them, they're all soggy and soaked in cheese. It's the best way to eat nachos, in my opinion. When we're out together, at the movies or maybe a ball game, if Shane buys nachos, he ALWAYS puts a chip in the cheese for me so it'll be nice and soggy by the time he pays and sits down. Silly, right? But I never have to ask him or say it, he just does it because it makes me happy. Soggy nachos might not seem like love, but they are.

I love this. For me, love comes in many forms, but it's usually baked. Brownies. Cookies. Apple pie. Brownies. Heather lets her actions speak much louder than her words, and the message comes through especially clear when those actions lead to baked goods. Which is a lot.

It's simple like that, isn't it? Love these thoughts.

He turns on my seat warmer for me in the car. Every time. Sometimes not even his own, just mine because he knows I like it. He has done this for years, but i just started to notice (awful right).

My goal this year is to make a point to notice all of these little things he does--that I take for granted.

that IS love. mine knows that i love just one ice cube in a glass of lemonade and i drink it with a spoon.

I love the title of this post. :-)

Hubs always puts straws in my drinks. It truly is the little things.

So good. The Mr. & I have had a rough year, but just recently, I think we have re-found some of those "nacho" things that make us. And it is important to have those things.

Perfection. Matt and I have a settled, quiet love affair with no dramatic gestures or presents. Every once in a while, I think, maybe, just maybe, he will surprise me this time, but I know he won't. He never forgets to get my a chai on Sunday or chocolate at the grocery store.

See? Love IS a verb. Love IS the things we do for each other and it is so good when those things are noticed...

Love is definitely in the simple things!

I also think love is when we take on burdens to protect the ones we love, and never even realize they're burdens at all.

That. Is the cutest thing EVER!

It's a good thing I like you and Shane so much, otherwise, the soggy nacho thing would kind of make me vomit. It's super cute and all, but the thought of anything all soggy with liquid cheese product grosses me out to the point of missing the greater message. :-)

(you know you love me)
(you and Shane are adorable)

I so agree! Soggy nachos = love. Everyone has their own soggy nachos, and when you find someone who shows they care with the attention to detail in this sort of little thing? Priceless.

That's sweet!
Hubs knows that I like to read the Saturday newspaper in order, so he'll just take whatever section he know's won't mess up my order.
