Feel Like Bacon Love

I need to attend a 12-step program for my bacon addiction. It's disgusting. Seriously disgusting. I love turkey bacon, I love bacon bacon, I even love the fake no meat in it bacon. I just love all things bacon. Is it Jim Gaffigan who has the bit about loving bacon so much that he'd eat bacon wrapped bacon? I don't know if it's Jim Gaffigan or if I'm thinking it is because I love Jim Gaffigan, but at any rate, it's so me. I could eat bacon wrapped bacon. I could eat an entire PLATE of bacon, then go back for seconds. And thirds.

I recently heard about bacon ice cream, and while I feel I should be appalled at the joining of bacon and ice cream, I'm not. Rather, I feel it's the perfect dessert to pair with my dream meal of bacon appetizers followed by a bacon entree.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), my husband--you know, the guy who does all the cooking--doesn't care for bacon that much, so we don't eat it very often. So, there's my confession. I know bacon is disgusting. I know that grease pours out of it when you cook it, but I love it. My guilty pleasure is not alcohol (although I do really like alcohol) or tobacco or gambling. My guilty pleasure is bacon. If bacon was illegal, I'd be heavily involved in the bacon black market. You'd find me hunched over in a dark room, shoveling it in my mouth. Actually, that thought isn't too far from what I'd like to be doing right now...

You like bacon 'cuz you're smokin'!

I'm sitting here laughing my "backside" off. OK. Lousy attempt at a pun. Anyway... Audrey could have written this post! We always laugh in my family because she gets this genetically predisposed taste bud from both Flo and Barry. If it doesn't have bacon, why eat it? Flo's most famous recipe of all is her pancakes grilled in bacon grease. Barry has perfected it over the years... and now Audrey and our son Keith do it for their children. (Jane and Adam eat them when their more "evolved" spouses are not around the watch the meat fest!!!!)

Now whenever Audrey's little guys come for breakfast, lunch or DINNER... Barry's short-order days are in demand. Ah... the sizzling, crunchy edges. The aroma that tempts the edgiest vegetarian. The taste! Have you ever tried pancakes in bacon grease?

This is a family who always has bacon on hand, so let me know when you're coming!

After making my last comment I opened a magazine and there is a recipe for Over-the-Top-Popcorn. You cook 4 slices bacon crisp, coarsely chop the bacon, add to bag of microwave popcorn, 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, 4 Tbsp.melted butter, 2tsp buttermilk ranch dressing mix, 1/4 tsp.pepper. I might even try this!

HA! seriously, I love bacon too but hubby is allergic to pork so I'm also not eating it as much. They now come to me as treats! :)

Hey, your hubby does the cooking?? Mine too!!

I am a bacon lover as well!

And the only reason the county is paying for my continuing ed/Master's is because it is a state mandated position (a Reading Specialist per every so many students) so they get money from the state to fund it, or something like that! LOL We're still paying on Chris' classes towards his administrative endorsement!

I do the cooking in this house, and I don't eat bacon at all. And yet, I still make bacon, bacon gravy, bacon sandwiches, bacon for baked potatoes, bacon vodka and yes, BACON ICE CREAM for my lovely husband. Tell your husband he need to step up to the plate...with lots of bacon.

And I used the recipe you linked to make the bacon ice cream, it was loved by all of the bacon eaters in our house. The 2 year old kept asking "more bain-con peeese" as I doled out tiny bits of the candied bacon.
