I was just excited to hear that you had fun running a strong race - the award is like icing on the cake (and who cares what size the field was - top three is top three!!). I think you're learning lots about yourself with the way you are running and you will be stronger because of it. Congratulations!Barb Ruesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13028828439314972006noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2667216505702880938.post-85093725332790719072013-07-05T14:26:44.696-07:002013-07-05T14:26:44.696-07:00I love this post! I've been trying to do some runs without it, but that almost stresses me out more.Barihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14677387733194492488noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2667216505702880938.post-56762885513138185712013-07-05T12:14:02.713-07:002013-07-05T12:14:02.713-07:00As you know, this is how I run most of the time. S...As you know, this is how I run most of the time. Sometimes I think it is because I am "old school" since I've been runnin way longer that all these new fangled measuring devices have been around. But sometimes I do run with the GPS on my phone. And what I have found, is what you have said, running by feel allows to tune into your body. You naturally speed up and slow down over the course of a run. Listening to what you body wants and just running, allows you to do what your body needs without the artificial intelligence telling you your pace or distance. I have a few runs that I know the exact distance before I run. But most of the time, I just run by total time, and check the distance after. Sometimes I run faster than I thought, and sometimes slower but unless it was an interval day, it was what my body needed that day. Good for you for learning this!!! There is value in a GPS watch. But as I told my running son, use it to make you a smarter runner, not to tell you what to do. I tend not to watch my pace during walks/runs - just my heart rate - and rely on the data more to track my overall progress after. It has been incredibly encouraging to see that I am, in fact, putting in THAT much effort. :-) I've thought about going watchless on a neighborhood walk or run (1.5 mi) just to see how it feels but I haven't done it yet. Since I'm so new to all of this I like getting the feedback that tech provides.Meghanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01293905023502830486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2667216505702880938.post-28833416801516348252013-07-05T10:30:15.891-07:002013-07-05T10:30:15.891-07:00Sounds like a very successful morning!!! I don't have a Garmin but I don't go out without my phone and while I don't have much control over how fast and slow I go at this point, I don't like being without it. I should try running without it too.

Foursonshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07470306593323990269noreply@blogger.com
