The books are fascinating - the main character is a witch who is able to time travel - you learn all about her in the first book, and in the second she has to go back in time in order to get away from immediate danger to herself and her vampire husband - they travel to the year 1590, which takes the story to a whole new realm - there are many historical figures including Sir Walter Raleigh, Henry Percy, Queen Elizabeth, Mary Sydney and many more - it's really an intricately weaved book with a complicated, yet fascinating, story line. Highly recommend it. I really do read slow...it's over 600 pages, and I've been reading it for about 6 weeks now...I just don't have the time, and when I do my kids have their book radar on so I end up having to put it down again.
