We had a really busy 4th of July, with a [fabulous] house guest, a 5k, and a parade. Oh, and a jerk of a migraine that thought it needed to celebrate the holiday with me, as well.
I really like living in a small town on the 4th. We walk the few blocks to the parade route with what seems to be the entire town, then we all go deaf while 40 fire engines run their sirens for 20 straight minutes.
But seriously, I do love the parade view with the American flags flying above the street and everyone together, celebrating. Oh, and free candy. Parades are amazing.
This year, we explained to Luke why it was important to stand and clap for the men walking with flags and drums. He took it very seriously.
This was the first year that we let Luke have a sparkler and he was also very serious about that... and about dressing himself thematically.
