I really like living in a small town on the 4th. We walk the few blocks to the parade route with what seems to be the entire town, then we all go deaf while 40 fire engines run their sirens for 20 straight minutes.

But seriously, I do love the parade view with the American flags flying above the street and everyone together, celebrating. Oh, and free candy. Parades are amazing.
This year, we explained to Luke why it was important to stand and clap for the men walking with flags and drums. He took it very seriously.

This was the first year that we let Luke have a sparkler and he was also very serious about that... and about dressing himself thematically.

Your parade looks so fun! I've always thought it would be nice to live in a small town. Great parade photos!
Aw! Love these captures!
Love those shorts. And free candy is the best ... makes up for the fire-engine deafness! =>
That first picture brings back oh, so many childhood memories... ;)
Small town parades are the BEST!
luke with his first sparkler ... oh dear. so cute!
I love the picture of Luke and the sparkler the most and the story about teaching Luke to honor the veterans. You're an awesome mom and an awesome teacher - even at home!

I just love the way he's holding and studying his sparkler. Too cute!
