But then Luke woke up and his excitement was almost contagious, as he could hardly wait to run outside and play in the snow. I bundled him up and he played until his cheeks were rosy and his body was covered in snow.

I have to admit, here, that I watched from the comfort of the kitchen table with my cup of coffee. I know. November 6th is just too early for ME to play in the snow.
Then I ushered him back inside with a cup of hot chocolate and a special snow day treat.

We snuggled on the couch, watch Toy Story 3, and when we were done? The snow was melted, which incidentally, is just how I like my snow.

I started freaking when I saw mini flurries. I can't imagine seeing real snow on the ground this early. I would've needed to go to Target for boots for the kiddos. I am so not ready yet. You'd think I'd be ready, after all I'm in MI and weather changes as often as I change my socks. :)
I could NOT believe it when I saw that as your 365 picture! I am not that far away from you and we saw little flurries but nothing sticking. That's an amazing amount for November 6th! Unless it's going to cause a snow day (yay!) I agree, snow can stay away. I like it for a couple weeks in December (just makes everything feel Christmas-y) but after that I am SO done. Brrrr...
Agree, it is a little bit early for snow........ Doesn't FALL come BEFORE winter....... Glad you son got to enjoy the FUN!!
What the junk??? It didn't snow here at all, and I live, like 1 hour from you!!
Ditto to what Julie said. We didn't even get a little flake over the weekend. From the picture it looks like a pretty significant amount, crazy Chicago/Northern Indiana weather.
A plow was out for the first snow?! I don't know if our plowing people just aren't on top of things, but I don't think I've ever seen them out right away!
I wonder at what age people start to hate snow? Driving age maybe? Luke is such a cute snow angel, but let's just hope it will stay away now for a few more weeks- considering it's supposed to be in the 60s this week! Chicago/NWI is crazy!
After living on a farm in the midwest and doing chores outside in negative degree weather and two feet of snow every day after school, I hate snow.
I will *attempt* to like it for my daughter's sake.
But I'd also be happier inside. Where it's warm.
I'm curious what the snow day treat is?? I can't tell from the picture. I like my snow in December, too, for the holidays. November is just a bit too early for me!
Hi Anonymous! The treat is maple sugar on top of fresh, clean snow. The maple syrup gets hard on top of the snow, almost like magic shell.
The joy on his face in that first photo is almost too much to bear. I'm glad you let him go out and play!
I agree that this is INSANELY early for snow. Really, there's never a good time for snow. except Christmas Day.
But Oh my, he looks so happy!
Snow angels. Snow desserts. Heart melting snow! xo!
Awh...that just melts my heart. You're the best mommy ever.
I loved the snow when i was a kid, i couldn't get enough of it. Now i know i'm getting old because when it snows all i can think is "dammit now i'll never get to work on time!"
