Signs

I'm not a fan of fall. Well, I am IN THEORY, but in actuality, I hate that it's a sign that winter is coming soon. But in the few moments I spent outside this weekend, I noticed the signs of fall all around us.
Of course, the Midwest girl in me always knows that when the cornstalks start to bend and brown, fall is coming.
017
The flowers follow and dance long shadows that you don't see in the summer.
010
And naturally, the biggest sign is when you start to crunch on fallen brown leaves.
018
But if I had to pick a favorite sign of fall, which I'm not really doing because remember? I hate fall. But still, if I HAD TO, it'd be when the sky does this. The sky doesn't do this in any other season.
023
And then I noticed the creepy face that looks like a Dark Mark in the middle of the clouds (can you see it? because I can, and I really don't know what I did to anger Lord Voldemort, except that he probably knows that I find Snape to be deliciously sexy in a dirty way) and I'm certain that that canNOT be a good sign.

This made me laugh so. I am with you, I can't fully enjoy fall because it just means winter is coming. Give me summer.

Ooh, I love the sky shot. It's like a magic eye picture. I think I see a mouth, right?

Ok, so I'm the exact opposite- I love winter, therefore I double love fall! And your shots- oooooh, I love them too! Fall, here we come!

Oh I'm just the opposite, I love the winter. And in my hemisphere it's just coming to a close, I'm dreading the stinking hot summer.
Beautiful photos though!

Very nice pictures but that last one is AWESOME. What a sky! And the face is clearly visible. (I'm sure I'll think about it all day. oh no)

I have mixed emotions about fall. I want to like it- especially since my anniversary is later this month and my birthday is in October, but as you said, it's one step away from winter- and that I have NO use for.

That picture of the sky is ABSOLUTELY amazing. Sadly, I can not see the face you're talking about. I might spend my day trying to find it!

(look I finally started it!! Thanks for the encouragement!)

Love the sky shot...but, yeah, kinda scary too!

I actually LOVE Fall, but I live in Texas...we only get Fall and long, HOT like a chili pepper Summers. At least in my part of Texas. The Fall is a welcome break from the triple digits we see more of than snow flurries! However, if I could I would totally bottle some warm weather up for you and send it your way! And if I ever figure a way to do it, I totally will. :)

Beautiful shots! Plus, you made me laugh, and I like that! Thanks for sharing.

That cloud picture is pretty awesome and I see HIM! *shudder*

Okay, that cloud is equally scary and awesome at the same time.

And as long as it didn't chat with you I think you are okay.

Great pics!

I like your spin in signs, you are so damn creative.

And I will have nightmares now from your sky shot, so thanks for that.

I had to giggle at that last paragraph! But that sky is A.MAZ.ING! I've been enamored with the sky lately. So amazing.

This is how I feel about fall too. I WANT to like it. In theory, I do. Because I like football season, and halloween, and the colors the trees change, and weiner roasts, and other fun fall things. But well, I hate winter. And the cold temperatures. And more than the rest of those things, that's what fall means to me. booo!

whoa that sky is scary looking. Great shot.

I Love your second shot. And that is one creepy ole sky! Great captures.

And the sky shot is awesome. I've never seen the sky like that:)

That sky is amazing...and I totally see the Dark Mark up there!
I love fall, and am practically begging Mother Nature to get her act together and bring on some cooler weather. Living in the south, I dream of fall on days like today when we had a heat index of 105. Ugh. Send some of your brown crunchy leaves my way please!

I honestly used to dread fall, too... but my Mom told me each year that I would some day love it. Well, of course I didn't believe her, but I do love fall now. Why? Menopause? Ha ha! I don't know. I just love the way the earth turns to give us great surprises, like colors and textures and shadows and clouds... just like your beautiful captures. Especially the clouds. I see the Loch Ness Monster, head facing left, frolicking in the swirling water of Scottish Highlands... ready to entertain your beautiful boys! Your captures remind my of my grandparents' farm in Michigan, where I was born... in the fall. My Mom was right all along! xo!

Ok- I am totally cracking up about the Dark Mark. It is awesome. I hope you have lots of HP fans in your life to share it with :)

These are great pictures! You crack me up with your Voldemort and Snape comments. I confess, I am an Alan Rickman fan.

I'm with you. Fall is a beautiful yet dreaded harbinger of winter. Eek!

I love the second photo, but oh, man... that cloud photo? Freaky. Makes me want to run to the basement... if only I had one :)

I feel the same way about autumn - bitter sweet. Love the leaves and the colours, hate that winter is approaching.
