Despite being an English teacher, I really abhor reading technical manuals. I also know nothing about photography (this is where you can be all Duh, we know. We see your photos.), so I'm not really sure if I did this whole
depth of field thing correctly. So, I basically took some photos where the front was focused and the back was blurry and hoped for the best!

The light was coming through the trees and looked really pretty.

This dumb bug flew into my picture, but it actually turned it out kind of nice.

yep, that would be depth of field. and pretty freaking awesome DOF, too. and that tree bokeh in the 2nd shot? LOVE!
Well done! :) I actually did this on accident once then became obsessed with learning HOW to control the depth of field. Ended up buying a new camera so I could do more on purpose. :)
The second one is really cool, but my favorite is the one with the dumb bug. I love the colors in that one!
You did a GREAT job. That second one is SMASHING!
Steph
looks like you got it down! Flowers and bug picture is pretty and the bokeh in the second shot is SO 'perty!' :)
Yep, you go DOF field down! Great shots! Isn't it fun? Let's just say I can be a bit obsessed with great bokeh...
Looks good to me! You must have more talent than you realized!
Dude, that tree one is awesome! Love it!
Also, my DOF pic looks way worse than yours...and I've been reading my manual.
Awesome DOF! LOOOOOOVE the bokeh in the second one!
Those look correct to me. I am just learning too. Yours look great actually! I love the bug. Very detailed.
Beautiful pictures! I've been trying to figure out DOF too because I want to join in on the fun of You Capture. I finally took some this afternoon, but I am still using the automatic features on my new Canon Rebel. I wanted so much to figure out some more features for this challenge, but there aren't enough hours in the day. Enough of my rambling...A is asleep so it's time for me to sleep too. ;) Thanks for sharing your photos!
I love the bee shot!!
Lovely photos with great DOF. The first photo is a pure and lovely and the second has a nice bokey with that light and the third is such a nice capture with that fly. Great job.
I would say that those are PERFECT DOF shots!!!! Well done :D
Yep, I really like the last shot - that little bee makes it extra special. :)
Bugs bring a sense of life to the photo... just before they sting you. :)
Love the second shot!
First, technical manuals are for math and science teachers only. It says so on the fronts of them. Second, these depth shots are extraordinary! The bee is perfection against that brilliant color. Perfection.
You did it just perfectly. wow. Lovely Erin! Way to go : )
I think you got it, you don't need no stupid book! Great shots, love the colors!
I don't even know where my manual is so luckily my camera is user friendly ;) Great shots!
A little too modest, I think! They're gorgeous, one and all, but my favorite is the evergreen branch. Lovely.
I had trouble, too, b/c I have an instamatic camera, and depth of field usually happens by accident! LOL.
The second shot is a sweet bokeh my friend.
all your photos are always great!
Looks like you nailed it!
You did a fantastic job. You even were able to create a bokeh effect on the shot where the light was coming through the leaves. Very cool!
You did it beautifully!
these are great shots, i REALLY love the first one!
I love how the big dumb bug adds to the flower. I keep wanting to get a picture.just.like.this and the damn bug always flies away before I snap the picture.
Beautiful job. For someone who might not have known what you were doing, you rocked it. I have to love the second one the best though. There's just something about the dark green against the dappled light of the background!
Beautiful shots!!
The second shot's bokeh is awesome!
You have nailed that challenge ! The first shot is my favorite.
You did a good job. Seriously.
Great job on these captures! I love the second one as well. Fantastic.
Practice makes perfect -- and it looks like you've got the hang of it! Nice -- love the 2nd shot with the bubbly sparkly bokeh-licious light.
Beautiful! Love the dumb bug...and the color of the flowers.
LOVE the photos! Great job!
You did it perfectly! Love that last one!
oh. my. gorgeousness. LOVE these.
I couldn't even participate in the challenge - because, I'm, well, challenged.
But your pictures are great!
Very niceshots. Love them all.
These are lovely examples! Really like the purple flower.
Say what you will about knowing nothing regarding photography, but you have a photographer's eye. I think those shots were quite beautiful. :)
Wow, you did a great job!
