- My thumbs are double jointed. This means I can bend them in very awkward positions. It freaks Shane out, which I love.
- The more I tease you, the more I love you. Seriously, I'm like a 9 year old boy, except that I stop before hair pulling. Mostly.
- Tommy has been sleeping horribly again (the story of his life), and I have a fantasy where I check into a hotel room, put my own blankets on the bed, close the blinds, and SLEEP for hours without interruption.
- If I was at Starbucks right now, I'd order a nonfat, no whip dark cherry mocha. If Starbucks delivered, I'd order twelve of them right now.
- My wedding colors were pink and yellow. I remember someone making a snide comment and saying, Wow, what is it--EASTER? And I said, No, it's my favorite colors AND MY WEDDING, STUPID. (I was such a pleasant bride. Actually, I really was pleasant, I just didn't have patience for annoying comments.)
- I actually really like to exercise and feel better afterward, but I also feel better after eating cupcakes... and eating cupcakes is a much easier endeavor.
- My favorite word in the English language is hope. If hope had a scent, I think it'd smell like lilacs.
- My favorite flowers are stargazer lilies, but I also love snapdragons and lilacs.
- My birthday is one month from today. I'll be 28. I guess I should start to feel panicked about inching closer to 30, but I'm not. I'm just very happy.
- I want to type more, but I am late for work, so READY SET GO, leave me some love!

Randomize
Today is my first day back at work after the best ever Spring Break, which means that I am once again chained to the pump during every break. This means that I need you guys to keep me entertained with emails, okay? So, I am going to be lazy blogger and tell you all some random things, then you comment and respond to them... or tell me something equally random. Come on, lurkers, I expect even you to comment!

Love your random thoughts!
Here are a few:
1.) My wedding color was periwinkle and someone made a rude comment also and I asked them to leave my wedding! (true!!)
2.) My favorite flower is the hydrangea, they were all over at my wedding.
3.) I turned 40 in February. That is not a bad thing, I am told that I look like I am in my 20's and I feel that way also!
4.) Right now I am sitting, drinking my coffee while my boys watch the boob tube. AHH, peace!
Have a great day!
My child didn't sleep through the night until 16 months and I CRAVED sleep. I had the same fantasy you do to and if I wasn't nursing I would have done it I think, just for an afternoon. I'm a total chocaholic and I even craved sleep more then chocolate. I ached for it and I totally feel your pain. I'm pregnant with #2 now and TERRIFIED for the sleepless nights again.
Alrighty...
So, the Dark Cherry Mochas are good? I've been meaning to try one and haven't gotten around to it yet.
My wedding colors may be pink and yellow some day, so no judgment!
You may know this, but my cat's name is Hope! She doesn't smell like lilacs, but she is rather special.
And finally, sometimes when I'm reading your blog it's hard to believe that we're the same age. We really need to work on this whole getting together someday business... and I'm going to have a lot of questions for you when I finally get down to the business of baby making (husband first, though). :-)
Randomly, I'm also random.
1) My thumbs are not double-jointed, but my shoulders are. I can make my shoulder blades stick out like wings. I also have a trick pinky, just like my grandpa, that gets stuck sometimes.
2) I'm not married yet, but when I do, I'm fairly certain my colors will be apple green & chocolate brown. For the obvious reasons that I love green and I really love chocolate.
3) My birthday is July 18. I always got really excited as a kid on the 4th of July, because fireworks meant it was 2 weeks until my birthday. Now, it's just a birthday. I'll be 21 this year, though.
4) My favorite flowers are green spider mums. They last forever. And they're green.
5) I'm a graphic design student in my native Southern Illinois, and I am so ready to graduate next spring.
Well, that's randomly me. I know the feeling of going back to school after spring break. Hope it's pleasant. :)
--I was engaged once and called off my wedding a few months before the big day. Our flowers were going to be stargazer lilies.
--That said, when I met my husband and we were planning our wedding, I planned the opposite wedding from my first go-round. Those colors (burgundy, burnt orange, fallish colors) have been used by one of my best friends and now my cousin in their weddings. Flowers too.
--One of my friends almost used the exact bridesmaids dress I used (to the point she wanted me to call the girls in my wedding to see if we could buy their dresses from them.)
--I almost tried the Dark Cherry Mocha last week in the Atlanta airport. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, so I stuck with my usual caramel light frappucino for an energy boost. Next time, though, I'm going for the Dark Cherry Mocha.
--I turn 32 this year. It freaks me out. A lot.
Hope your first day back is a good one!
Here are my randoms:
1)Our wedding colors were Apple and Gunmetal (close enough to Scarlet and Gray so I will not make fun of your pastel wedding)
2)I can not get enough of my new iphone...I play free scrabble and Soduko whenever I get a chance! love it!
3)I'm in a friends wedding on May 15th and have yet to get my dress altered (prob have to cut of 2 feet from the length). Better jump on that ASAP!
Nice idea! I LOVE lilacs. They remind me of my childhood when I lived in New Hampshire. There was a long row of lilacs in a garden next to my garage that was planted WAY before my family moved there. You can imagine how lovely and surprising that was to a 10-year old girl that first spring... the sight, the SCENT, the bounty of it all. I think those lilacs inspired my love of poetry. Really. I have planted lilacs in the yard of every home I've owned. Last year, Barry and I planted a row of lilacs right next to our driveway and this year I am going to extend it. I also LOVE hydrangeas and have a beautiful row of them in my back yard and will be planting more in my front yard this year. Lucky me... Jane's boyfriend Brian is a landscaper and can get me all of these things wholesale this year!! He is awesome and wonderful and I love him so much. My only child who has any interest in gardening is Keith... and my son-in-law Matt and now Brian. What the hell is that all about?! My grandchildren LOVE to garden and I'm planning a planting day for all of us. My yard is very small... we had a really big yard when my kids were small, but I love my little patch of land now.
No lie. Barry and I had to put a pull-out bed in our bedroom because both Audrey and Jane ended up in our bed every night until it was just wrong. They slept together in that bed in our bedroom until they were in high school. We laugh about it now. Jane is living with us again until she gets settled and her Lab Ryder sleeps with Barry and me every single night. We love it, though! Jane's other dog, Seth, sleeps in Jane's room... and Brian's dog is here often, too. She, Tanzi, jumps on our bed at around 5:00 am whenever she's here. Oh, man... but she's a cutie!
I am 57 1/2 today. I'm working through my list of 57 things. I don't feel anything about "time left" and all of that, but I do have a sense of mortality. I used to wonder a lot about this, but now I see and feel the wisdom of the stages of life. I consider every moment a great blessing.
I have the sense of humor of a 12-year old boy. Most people don't understand this, so I act mature most of the time. My 7 grandsons LOVE me for my immaturity and grossness and things their parents don't allow. My granddaughters are kind of like... "are we allowed to say that?" YES! My Mom is the greatest LADY in the world. I don't know where I came from but Barry loves me... and all 4 of my kids are disgustingly funny!
I have my coffee black, no sugar and strong.
I love the wind.
You are one of my favorite people and I wish to meet you one day in person! And I LOVE your boys!
I'm not double jointed in any way and am likely one of the most least flexible people ever. My SIL, however, is kind of a freak of nature and her elbows bend so far in the wrong direction that they look broken. She used to chase her siblings around, waving them in the air. I wish I could do that.
My favorite thing at Starbucks is a simple chai latte with soy milk. Tried and true.
My favorite flower is the daisy. I like to keep things simple.
And I didn't have wedding colors b/c I eloped. I bought a blue dress off the clearance rack at Carson's, T dug up a matching blue tie, and we went downstate to Ottawa, got married in the courthouse [don't know why that's sideways], and spent the afternoon frolicking at Starved Rock in our wedding attire. It was the best day ever.
I really can't stand people up in my business, nor do I ever enjoy being the center of attention, so eloping was fun. I also birthed at home for some of the same reasons.
Did you have a spring or summer wedding? Pink and yellow are so cheerful!
I love randomness...
1. My wedding colors were teal, orange and white. I got married on the beach. Now I'm getting divorced and when I get remarried I'm going to go with browns and greens. I love planning weddings.
2. My favorite flowers are daisies, any color.
3. I'm only 24, so I'm either making someone feel really old right now or better about their age. Glad to know I could help.
4. I never go to Starbucks anymore. When I do I always get chai tea. The dark cherry mocha sounds really delicious!
Thanks for allowing me the chance to be random. Enjoy your first day back at work!
I have double jointed-ish fingers as well and bend them in weird ways to freak out my husband. It works almost as good as "I have a headache", not that I ever use that line.
Thank you dearly for putting the "get a hotel room and put my own blankets on the bed" fantasy in my head.
I turn 33 this year. Just wait till you turn 30. Everything goes down hill. You eat a cupcake and your butt grows three sizes. It's awful. Oh....and I feel more in touch with my true self now that I'm in my 30's...or some crap like that. (trying to not scare you by adding a positive side)
Enjoy your pumping breaks! :)
Have a great day
just so you know, in my dream over the weekend you were standing in my kitchen drinking my coffee creamer.
Here's what I want to know:
What is your favorite cupcake? What kind of cake and what kind of icing? Do you prefer sprinkles or not?
1. My wedding colors were black and red. My flowers were calla lillies with red rose accent. My girls wore black tea length dresses from J. Crew and every one of them has worn them again!
2. Owen is 2 or 3 weeks younger than Tommy and he's been sleeping worse lately too. I think we were up every hour last night.
3. I am on Spring Break now and replying from my iTouch as I nurse him down for a nap.
4. I teach 5th grade. I think teaching and parenting are harder to balance than most anything else. My students zap my patience leaving little for Owen and it's not a job you leave at work.
5. I liked my pets a lot more before having a kid.
Here are some more randoms for you.
1) I read your blog pretty much daily and find it inspiring. It also makes me laugh.
2) I'm more of a which chocolate Mocha kinda gal but peppermint is my very favorite when I splurge and get starbucks.
3) My favorite flower is a gerber daisy. I love them in random colors too.
4) I turned 30 this year and since my birthday things haven't been the best but I'm looking for it to get better soon. I don't feel 30 but am sure I look that way.
5) I used to think that my pump sounded like it was saying "super cool" when I was pumping at work. This entertained me more then I should admit.
6) My hubby wanted to enter me into the state fair with the dairy cows because if my Luke slept through the night and I had to work, I would pump and get between 18 and 20 oz of milk from my "girls". It was CRAZY.
7) I wish you more sleep, more time with your adorable boys (come on money tree, grow in Erin's yard) and more then all of this loads of health. I'm always wishing health for all since i know what it's like with sick kids :(
8) My favorite word in the english language is faith. Because I have to have faith to get through the dark stuff and like you, hope to find the light at the end of the tunnel.
Have a great day Erin!!
I hope you have a good day back. We are on Break this week...so I have a couple more days to go.
A few random's of my own:
1. We sold our house this morning (actually signed) and "buy" our new one on Friday. Lots of packing over the next couple days!
2. I love pastel colors and my husband puts up with me using them to paint rooms with.
3. This is my tenth year teaching--and also my worst. I hate to leave my little girl each day. I hope next year is better.
4. I wish I could eat hash browns everyday for breakfast.
:)
I cannot believe I left my name as AMT. I meant Amy.
Whoops.
1) My wedding color was green. I didn't even ask for ppl to match in the party, just wear green. My bridesmaids all matched anyway (there was one groomsman). On the day of my wedding I got my hair done and went on my merry little way while my bridesmaids got theirs done FOR HOURS, while crying, screaming, and finally redoing it in the hotel room minutes before leaving. *THAT* was why I didn't ask them to match. Crazy women. I figured they would anyway because *they* cared.
2) I've played over 1500 rounds of the game Flood-It on my phone. It's what I have been doing while breastfeeding, well, forever. :)
3) Whats your favorite cupcake? Ok ok, top 5 favorites? Friends dont make friends choose one cupcake.
4) Favorite meal(s)?
5) If you got paid trip for your family anywhere, where would you go this year?
6) What does Shane do to creep YOU out?
7) Tulips are my favorite flowers.
8) I love breakfast. I need breakfast NOW. :)
30 didn't bother me. 31 nada. 32 fine. I turn 33 near the end of this year. Thinking about turning 33 without another kid in our family...that bothers me. Why 33? No idea.
I'm always down for some random thoughts:
*I LOVE police lights at nighttime. Obviously, not when they are behind me, but I do love the colors.
*Hubs and I decided that this summer I will stop taking birth control and see if anything happens. I am so excited and had to share somewhere that my family isn't reading!!
*I'd bring you 12 starbucks if you lived closer (ok, only 10 would make it to you).
*My favorite flowers are gerbera daisies.
*I want to move to Alaska, or anywhere with snow. I've wanted this for many years but it will never happen:-(
*I got married in a football stadium, that I was an engineer on, at the college I graduated from (everyone I know is so jealous).
Okay, first of all, you suck. You are just now about to turn 28? You are so freakin' young! (Not that I'm old or anything, but the 20s feel soo long ago.) I haven't tried the dark cherry mocha. It isn't too fake cherry tasting?
*My favorite flowers are gardenias on the stem.
*I only began drinking coffee this fall and require copious amounts of Splenda and creamer to make it palatable. I have yet to purchase my first cup at Starbucks.
*I know how to drive a tractor.
*I would choose a good thunderstorm over snow any day of the week.
*One day, I hope to be called a skank by you.
*Not to make you lose hope or anything, but Cady didn’t sleep through the night until she was five, when we adopted a dog and told Cady it was her responsibility to stay with it in her bedroom so the dog wouldn’t be sad and lonely. Somehow, this strategy worked. We have since lost the ability to wake up coherently from a deep sleep, and now Cady hates to wake us up, since it’s likely we’ll startle and flail about hilariously.
*Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I lose all sense of proportion and taste in decorating for it.
I can do random so well. Here you go.
I've never lived in a bedroom where I can't see a streetlight from my window. I once had to house sit for my parents and slept in their room which is PITCH black and it freaked me out terribly.
At this moment I have no color on. I left all my colorful accessories at home this morning when I was rushing out the door. I very much dislike being dressed in black.
The sound of the phone ringing makes me want to stab it to death.
I dream of getting stuck in the elevator at work just so I can get paid to sit in silence.
I love the smell of the rain. I love that no perfume or air freshener can ever really capture that smell. I walk in the rain and I leave my windows open just so I can enjoy the smell.
In ten days I'll have been married for five years.
I hate reading non-fiction.
The walls in my lobby remind me of a padded cell. I find this very appropriate because sitting here day in and day out makes me crazy.
I swore I'd never be one of those people who loves their pets like mad, but my dog is the coolest dog in the world.
Every day I become more and more like my father. This upsets my mother.
I have no feeling in the tip of my left ring finger. Someone cut it off when I was in second grade.
Grover was my favorite Muppet. But Kermit was right behind him.
30 is nothing. =D I'm worried about 40!!!! John keeps teasing me that it's closer than I think =P
My wedding colors were navy blue and silver. I think pink and yellow sounds lovely =)
Joey keeps ending up in our bed and it's driving me INSANE, and also I am not sleeping as well, or as much, because of being in the third trimester. All of this put together SUCKS!
Do I owe you an email? I will go check later today, I'm taking a short internet sojourn before jumping in the shower to get ready for preschool!
I hope you have a good day today and good luck with the pumping =D <3
Since you called out the lurkers- I'm really trying not to be anymore!! :)
-I LOVE sarcasm, teasing and wit. I can't get enough, it makes me laugh and I love it.
-I've never had anything from Starbucks. I work in Downtown Chicago so I have easy access. Maybe I'm afraid of becoming addicted.
-I got married this past September and my main wedding color was navy blue and I had bright pink, orange, yellow and lime green gerbera daisies. My husband thought it would be a great idea to have navy blue vests and bright orange ties for the men and told everyone we were having a Bears wedding. Can't believe I let him do it :)
-My favorite flowers are gerbera daisies and I always find the best ones at Jewel.
-I'm going to be 29 in October and I'm starting to slightly freak out because I thought I'd be farther alone with certain things already.
-My husband and I decided to start trying to have a baby this June. Ah!! Your blog (and those in your circle of friends) has inspired me and changed so many of my thoughts of how I'm going to approach motherhood (all in good ways)
-I want to start a blog so badly, but I'm afraid I won't have anything to say until I have a baby! I'm excited for the friendships, advice and encouragement the comes from the blogging world but don't know how to go about making it happen!
Thanks for the random!!! Glad I replied! Have a great day!
love random!
1) I'm sleeping much like Tommy lately--without the nursing and (slightly) less crying.
2) I've never been to Starbucks. No I don't live under a rock, I'm just not into coffee.
3) I would rather clean the toilet with my toothbrush than iron a single article of clothing.
4) Turning 32 in two months has me really freaked out.
5) I also tease because I care. My whole family is like that, we catch outsider off guard sometimes.
6) My husband had surgery on his ankle and is in a walking cast. I may or may not have asked him "Do you want me to break your other foot?" while in the grocery store.
7) If it were up to me, I would have my Chritmas tree up all year.
I hope your day goes quickly!
I am going to pick up a friend's toddler today and I am so excited. So when she is napping later I will post the random facts and that way you will have 2 comments from me. Because I love you that much.
Also I sort of am hating on you, I picked up your boyfriend at Target and fell in love and now the loser isn't hanging out there anymore.
Gah, my mornings have not been the same.
but seriously...xo
1. Wedding colors were black, white and red.
2. I'll be 28 on September 10th and I am freaking out about 30, not really but sounds fun.
3. You must not really like me because you never tease me ;)
4. My baby hasn't been sleeping well either, but I think Tommy has her beat in lack of sleep habits.
5. I LOVE dark cherry mochas!
6. I don't really like flowers.
7. I dispise exercising, thus the reason I am still chubby after having Emery!
8. I pumped today, and am sorry you have to do that every day!
9. You rock!
1. I hate snow. I live in the wrong place to hate snow though.
2. My wedding colors were periwinkle, yellow and sage green. If I did it again today it would be red and aqua - very vintage-y feeling.
3. I want to redo my kitchen and paint several rooms in my house, today. But it won't happen.
4. I have the same fantasy of going to a hotel to sleep. The man and I are going to do just that on April 29. I am very excited. First time in 8 years we have been alone together!!
5. I love my 30's. They rock. Much better than my 20's.
6. I am going to get my darling daughter's hair cut this week and it is going to be a cute short bob and my husband is going to be really mad at me. but he isn't the one that has to fight with her about her hair all the time. so there.
7. Sleep? What is that? Libby still takes 30 minute naps. Seriously. I want to cry.
8. My kids are watching Mary Poppins and I am sitting at the computer nursing Libby typing to you cause I love you that much.
9. Can't wait for your birthday.
10. I don't have anything else, but couldn't stop at 9 - I had to have an even number to finish on. I am a wee bit anal like that.
I've really been into making my own bread lately - thanks to this book I got called Artisan Bread in 5 minutes a day.
Oh, and I've decided it's time - time to start a diet and loose this baby weight. My new love for home made bread is not helping this effort at all.
1. Our wedding color was periwinkle since we were married in May (8 years on the 26th!) and the Bryan nervously asked if his vest had to be periwinkle too. I said no since it wasn't 1984 :-)
2. My birthday is tomorrow and I'll be 31 so you can hush.
3. I don't get a spring break so I'm jealous. Makes me wish I went into teaching but then again, kids can suck sometimes.
4. I don't drink coffee sadly. Never liked it. If I could have anything in the world right now delivered for free I'd have a filet medium, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted squash and zuchinni, a salad with LOTS of croutons and italian dressing, and a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. Oh, and a glass of merlot. *rocks back and forth*
5. I have a huge crush on Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs.
6. Tulips are my favorite flower.
Oh gosh. My wedding colors were periwinkle and lavender, and I look back and just shake my head. Because I totes didn't know myself back then (1998)
I hate the word "totes".
My thumbs are double jointed too.
I could make a meal out of sourdough from Whole Foods. Just toasted with butter. About 4 pieces.
The cupcakes you sent me haunt me still, because they are 2hrs away which is just far enough that I can't convince the kids to endure the drive.
I never iron. If I don't fold clothes in time to avoid them totally wrinkling I just re-wash.
I posted a list of things yesterday but they make me more crazy than just a harmless "random". :)
A non fat, no whip Dark Cherry Mocha is my current fave! I love it iced. :)
My wedding color was silver lilac. Not two colors, just one. The flowers and cake turned out nothing like they were supposed to, my dress was not the original one I picked out (long story)...but, almost ten years later, I am still married to the love of my life! And truth be told, I really wanted a destination wedding, on the beach. Simple and relaxed. I even happened to work for a "Destination Weddings and Honeymoons" zine at the time....crazy.
Cupcakes rock. There is a place in Austin, TX called Hey Cupcake...Love it!
I JUST turned 30 on Saturday, and it's wonderful!
Hope your first day back is a good one!
Here's my random:
1) I'm reading a fascinating (and entertaining) book called "The Male Brain" that talks about what makes men different from women and how the male brain develops and changes throughout the lifespan. Interesting tidbit I just came across: Researchers have found that by the time a boy is 7 months, he can tell by his mother's face when she's angry or afraid. But by 12 months, he's built up an immunity to her expressions and can easily ignore them. (For girls, it is the opposite - subtle facial expressions from their parents can stop them in their tracks.) In experiments, girls heed mother's facial warnings, but boys seemed not to care, acting like they're magnetically pulled toward the forbidden object. By 27 months, boys more often than girls will go behind parents' backs to take risks and break rules - even as they're capable of incredible sweetness when they're not too busy getting into trouble. :)
2) Before getting engaged, I always thought my wedding colors would be something classic like burgundy and silver. But when I actually started planning my wedding, I chose aqua blue, with magenta and tangerine accents (sounds weird, I know, but I promise it worked!). I found I wanted to be surrounded by happy colors...I think it was because I was so happy.
I never wanted kids until I met my husband. Not hostile, just not interested in any of my own. I always loved other people's kids and then groaned when they'd say, "You're so great with them, you should have some!" NO.
Look at me now.
Also, I have broken all my fingers except my thumbs and both pinky toes. I have real, living proof I am an uber clutz, crooked pinky fingers from multiple breaks. They're pretty.
Least favorite word: Discharge.
Favorite flower: Also Stargazers.
Talent: I can ride the unicycle. Seriously.
Ok, I'm a lurker. I admit it. I have been lurking for weeks now, stalking you through your blog in the middle of the night (I'm five months pregnant and STILL get night sick - what else is there to do in the middle of the night except read blogs I love? :D )
1. I didn't really have "wedding colors" exactly. The theme was fall (it was Oct.) and I used all kinds of colors - reds, purples, golds, etc. I guess the bridesmaids did wear red. Does that make it my "wedding colors"?
2. I spent my 24th birthday in labor with my son. He was born the next day, so I don't think much about my birthday anymore - just his. Keeps away the "closer to thirty than twenty" panic that many of my friends are now feeling.
3. Don't like coffee at all. Not for lack of tyring (I've tried it a half a billion times), but I just don't like it. It actually makes me sad!
4. Ahhh...the joys of pumping breast milk at work. Been there, done that, plan on doing it again this fall. Personally, I really enjoyed the look of shock on the male teacher's face when I'd carry my breast shields to the kitchen to clean them or when he would go looking for his soda in the teacher fridge and find breast milk. Always good for a laugh!
5. I want to use cloth diapers with this baby. Any recommendations?
(kkurth@lebanon.k12.mo.us)
6. Ok, gotta go. Really, I'm at work right now and should be grading papers!
Love your blog!
Kassandra Kurth
Most of the random things I would write you already know. ;)
But I did realize the other day that I turn 30 next year. It seems crazy that we are that old already. I still vividly remember when we graduated.
Are you guys having a 10 year reunion? You planning to go? I can't decide if I actually want to go to mine...I wasn't a big fan of most of them when I was in high school and I pretty much keep up with everyone on facebook anyway. :P
Oh and I have still never had Starbucks.
Randomness from a lurker:
1. My wedding colors were purple and white. No snide comments from the peanut gallery (the peanut gallery being his family and mine).
2. I'm thinking of homeschooling my two sons for the remainder of this year as we are in the middle of a move.
3. My youngest son passes out and has seizure activity at even the thought of blood and he has a unit coming up on health/body systems. Another reason I'd like to finish the year by homeschooling.
Hope you get some much-needed sleep soon! I don't miss those kind of days/nights! :)
Since you specifically called the lurkers out, I will comment. I have commented before, so I may not technically be a "lurker"
1) I hate the word moist, to even type it makes me shudder.
2) I have recently become overwhelmed by by wanting a 3rd child and staying at home with all 3 kids. I have a 4 yo son and 1 yo daughter. I have always worked and never really thought I would be a "successful" SAHM. Now, I wish for it everyday.
3) I am addicted to blue chapstik, I have at least one on my person at ALL times.
4) When I go to starbucks I get iced tea, never have been into coffee. I LOVE the smell of coffee brewing though.
5) I was blessed with 2 kids that sleep 10-12 hours every night (ducks punch)
6) I make a mean lemon bar, it is craved by many
7) I love to make and can strawberry jam every summer
OK, I guess that is enough randomness from me (even though I am a little twitchy stopping at #7, thanks Kim). Thanks for the opportunity, I love it.
Have a great day, hope we are keeping you busy over the next few days with our insights.....
First of all, at (almost) 28 you are still very much a youngster. I am 35 and with 3 boys and most days dont' feel old enough to be here and the mother of these kids.
My wedding color was navy blue. If I had to do it over (which I don't plan on ever doing, but its fun to imagine), I'd pick red this time around. Much sassier than navy blue.
My favorite flower is the hyacinth. I miss living up north where hyacinths actually grow in the spring.
I have 3 little boys and want one more baby desperately, but don't want to do the pregnancy thing again. Conundrum.
Now you have me wanting Starbucks. Skinny cinnamon dolce latte please.
I spent the morning at the science museum downtown with my 3 boys (they are just starting their spring break) and then we bought hot dogs from a street vendor and ate lunch by the river with all of the corporate people on their lunch breaks. It was a wonderful morning.
My littlest little is napping, and so I must get off the computer and fold laundry.
I like to think I'm a lurker because it sounds dirty, but actually I've known you a decade and I comment all the time.
Random things about me:
1) I'm really random. REALLY.
2) If you are looking for that person in the room who will make that one comment that crosses the line, it's probably me. If someone had said something about my wedding being Easter, I would have made up some metaphor about how I think I'm important enough to compare to Christ, and kept building the metaphor until I offended every major religion.
3) I don't know how to come up with random things you don't already know....
4) I've never tried a cherry mocha, but now I want one. Bad. I'm more of a vanilla or hazelnut latte sort of girl. Non-fat, no whip, sugar free. Yes, I know fake sugar will kill me someday.
5) My favorite flowers are Irises. If I was planning on having a real wedding, instead of running off to Vegas someday, It would be all in periwinkle Irises like the ones that used to grow at my great-grandmother's house.
Maybe it's my nerves because right now every child in my neighborhood is in my backyard RIGHT NOW while I'm trying to read this post and so anyway, I kept reading your words wrong- like you were talking about your thumbs and I thought of you thumb injurty, but you're not talking about your thumb injury. And then talking about your wedding I swear you typed "Actually, I really was pregnant" and anyway, that was news to me.
I have the same fantasy about the hotel room and napping.
And these neighbors better call their kids home soon or I'm going to go neighbor-lady crazy on them like Cheri Oteri.
Steph
i love that you said that hope smells like lilacs. but my vote is that it smells like a good spring rain :)
More comment action coming tomorrow when you are back at work chained to the machine of milking (right now I am assuming you are sleeping and if not - go to bed! I hate the crappy sleeping phases).... but in the meantime I just HAD to say that your 365 made me laugh out loud today. :) When I taught Biology I had to teach genetics/reproduction/spermatogenesis/etc... oh those were FUN times.... ;-)
I have Hitchhiker's Thumbs.
My bridesmaids didn't carry bouquets. They carried single candlesticks.
I used to own over 200 pez dispensers and have been to the pez museum in California.
i didnt get this post till late, but I love it. If I had more followers i may steal it...
Randomness...I married my husband twice! We were divorced for 3 yrs and got back together. We have a great love story, one day I'll tell ya about it.
*I carried daisies at my second wedding to him, they are my favorite flower.
*My daughter wanted to be the flower girl so badly, she stole my flowers and plucked off petal by petal and made me follow her around the back yard.
* My mom died a year ago in Feb, and I hate going to the cemetery!! I go on her b-day and mothers day..
* My obsession is Food Network
Have a great day!! Its beautiful here...Park day!
i wanted to get to this so many times yesterday. maybe it will still be fun to get random at work today!
first, what are we doing for your birthday?? i'm excited!
i got that at starbucks yesterday SOLELY because of this post. wish i could've brought you one, too.
i loved our wedding, but i want to do a really "me" renewal ceremony sometime. my style has changed and i know who i am more. also? i think if you WANT to be married to that person 10 or 15 years later....you totally deserve another ceremony. there also wouldn't be 300 people there this time, but the people that we have invested in each other's lives for real!
fave flower changes for me. right now? peony.
i'm scheduled to get a perm next month!
Okay here are some random ones for today's entertainment:
1. My nearly two year old (next week - sigh) started potty training herself when she was 22 months old. She just asked to go potty one weekend and went. Then did it again about 4 more times in two days. We decided we better get on board and start potty training.
2. I turn 30 this summer. I am not sure how I feel about it. I am really happy with my life and where I am right now but I am sort of sad too. My Grandma had my Mom when she was 30, my Mom had me when she was 30, I sort of always figured that I would have a baby at 30 too. But another one is not in the cards for us right now.
3. I hate mustard. It makes me gag if I even taste a little I hate it so much.
4. I can't seem to call my daughter by her name lately. For some reason it's Sweet Pea, Peanut, etc, etc.
5. I worked at a coffee shop/cafe at various positions (cashier, espresso maker, cook, assistant manager) for seven years. I got free coffee for seven years. I hate coffee, I never drank my free coffee, it was such a waste. :)
I'm a wee bit late, but I have the word "hope" tattooed on the inside of my lip. So much power to that word.
I'm a few days late on your random post..
We're on spring break right now and I slipped into work to get a few random things done while my older girls work on some chores at home and my younger ones get some "normal" time with their friends in at the daycare..
My 4 year old diva tried on some clothes last night at Old Navy and proceeded to wear them throughout the rest of our shopping trip, I handed all the tags over to check out and had to sit her up on the counter to deactivate the security sticker:)
I say a prayer everynight not only for the health of my family that maybe we could hit the lottery and I could stay at home after our 5th baby comes in September. But since it's a pipe dream i'm doing everything within my power to cut back on just about everything and sell materials things that mean absolutely nothing! Maybe just maybe I can align my own stars...
So I've been wanting to comment, but am just now finding the time (it's been a week that included, but was not limited to: getting a flat tire, buying a new (to us) minivan (yes, we caved), and having our fence blown over...one thing after another!). Anyway, so here are some randoms for you!
Our birthdays are a week apart (yay Taurus!), and your Tommy was born on my husband's birthday. I'll be 29 this year, and I am not at all weirded out by being almost 30. I have always been "old", even when I was a kid, so I guess that thirty isn't all that scary. I love my life at almost thirty.
Our Starbucks orders are super close together, but I have to get a Venti, nonfat, no whip, DECAF, plain old mocha. I have a serious problem with fruit trying to mix with my chocolate...it might make it healthier! I can't do caffeine anymore...it makes me all jittery and I'm afraid my little one would be too wired from caffeinated milk!
OMG, this is so long. My husband and I met in second grade, fell in love in high school, and married the second I graduated college. Our colors were silver and lilac and I had stargazer lilies and purple roses in my bouquet (purple roses were the first flowers my hubby ever got me!).
I have a two and half year old that has always been an awesome sleeper, but our 6 month old has decided that sleep is for the weak. I am so tired. I will join in your hotel fantasy and we will nap the day away together! (My fantasies are quite tame and often involve sleep, too, these days!).
I love lilacs, too. They are the scent of spring to me, and since I LIVE for spring and summer, they symbolize hope for me, as well.
I gave my dog a haircut this morning and she looks super cute; she is probably the most patient dog on the planet.
I am currently wearing a shirt that says "Pugs, Not Drugs" and every time I remember I have it on, I giggle.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy some time quality time with your boys and some "you time", as well!
Hmm, more randomness...
So I can't decide if you will enjoy all the late comments on your top ten posts, or if you will think I'm nuts. I think I am okay with either way though because it's entertaining me so that's all that matters. ;-)
My husband got a PS3 for his birthday (early December). I think he has reverted to being a teenager. Obsessed.
I really really love taking pictures. I really really hate that Best Buy will take 2-5 weeks to clean my camera (free with stupid protection plan) and can't get me a replacement battery without sending out the whole camera (what the?) for the 2-5 weeks as well. I did not give them my camera.
I am going to Disney in 2 weeks. (thus my refusal to turn over said camera to Best Buy) This freaks me out because it's during the school year. I asked my school for permission (to be able to go with my immediate family) and expected them to say no. They said yes. Now I am freaking out about preparing my family and my classroom for the trip.
Also - I still think you should go get that hotel room and get some sleep in. It's never too late for that. :)
