I Love You More Than...

First of all, thank you SO MUCH to everyone for the sweet comments assuring me that my three year old is not actually some mini-version of Hannibal Lecter. Your comments helped so much, so much in fact that I came home and told my husband about it. Unfortunately he was all confused and said, "What's a blog?" (More on this later this week.) Although we had a very trying weekend because BOTH BOYS woke up multiple times overnight, making for some crabby kiddos, it's nice to know that he's normal, if sometimes monstrously so.

And now on to the cute... Every night when I tuck Luke in, I tell him I love him more than chocolate. {Which is a lot.} At first, he would just tell me he loved me, too, but then he started telling me what he loved me more than. In the past few weeks, I've been told that I'm loved more than:
  • Ice cream
  • Christmas lights
  • Doors
  • Candles
  • Vacuum cleaners
  • School buses
  • Mountains
  • Booboo candy (when Luke gets a bad booboo, he gets a piece of chocolate. I stole this idea from Harry Potter, when Professor Lupin would give chocolate after Dementor attacks. I'm such a nerd.)
It's the best. Every night, I see his little brain searching for something new to say, something that he loves. His loves are so random, but they are all things that he talks about at some point each and every day. I adore it. I adore him, and each night, I tuck him in and carry with me in my heart that my son loves me more than mountains. I hope he always does.

booboo candy...how sweet. It's amazing how a simple sentence can erase,(well, maybe not erase, but smudge) a bad day. :) Even if my kids were mini devils all day, and they were yelled at and had toys taken away, they still make sure I don't forget to give them hugs and tweeks(pinches all over). I must be a routine that needs to happen. These crazy kids, it's amazing we're not covered in grey hair. We might be, but God bless highlights. :) Have a great day.

He loves you more than VACUUM CLEANERS? WHOA, Mama... that is A LOT!

Must be doing somethin' right! :)

(There is no sarcasm in this comment whatsoever. Just a fervent hope that I will have a child who loves vacuum cleaners as much as Luke does, and still loves me more.)

I am in agreement with Cameron....the boy L.O.V.E.S Vacuum Cleaners (I remember reading about his scrapbook/folder)...so that is huge! And when he grows up I am sure he will understand the significance of the chocolate reference!

Wouldn't you crack up if one night he uttered your buttercream creamer! LOL!

I love the booboo candy idea!!

My Mom is always telling the kids that she loves them to the moon and back... and since he was born in Japan, Michael would always tell her he loved her to Japan and back. Then Jack came along. And he tells me that he loves me to the grocery store. Only there. Not even back :(

If he loves you more than vacuum cleaners - WOW. I've seen how much that kid loves vacuum cleaners.

That is the sweetest. The other day Sy told me he loved me so much he could eat me up. Eat away boy, eat away.

My favorite part of all of this was, "What's a blog?" Too funny! Can't wait to hear more on that later!

Ooh...I understand the waking every night. Ashlyn has night terrors EVERY night and it's draining.

And how adorable is Luke?! You know if he loves you more than vacuums then that's a whole bunch! So cute. :)

Somehow I missed your earlier post and I just wanted to say that NO! of course you are not alone having a child that "tries" you sometimes! And yes, THREE can be worse than two, just so you know... Of course it's all worth it when they love you like this. Such a great photo! :)

The power you hold to be the very center of another human being's universe is so incredible. All of Luke's so wonderful, cute, delicious, memorable, radiant, important LOVES don't even compare to you. This is the very essence of motherhood... and it is AWESOME!! (Even on "those other days"!!)

And of all those things, how ironic is it that vacuum cleaners probably was the biggest compliment?
