You Capture: Color

I'm trying to look for the silver lining in life much more these days, and as I pulled into the parking lot at work, I was impressed by the beautiful colors of the sunrise over the Courthouse in the city where I work.
Unfortunately, all I had was my camera phone, and it was too cold for me to get out of my car, so it's not the best shot.

BUT it is color, and it's outside, which means that according to Beth's post last week, I get EXTRA CREDIT. You know those kids who do extra credit in school even though they already have 115%? Yeah, I was that kid.

Then I came home, and I thought about color some more, and I decided to share pictures of my most very favorite makeup pieces EVER. So favorite that if you wear makeup and don't own one, you need to buy one. Now. And don't even tell me they're too expensive, because sometimes you have to splurge, right? Right. And I should note that I've bought these over the course of five years, so it's not like I just bought all nine of these yesterday.

Oh, Shimmer bricks. You're so pretty. I love you as cheek highlight and eye shadow and sometimes even on my legs. And there's a new one that I don't own. Nectar. Someone tell my husband to buy it for me for Valentine's Day!
Doesn't that look so soft and shimmery? I want to use it as a pillow. A sparkly, beautiful pillow.
008
Yes, I own too much makeup, but there are worse addictions!

I didn't notice my reflection in this last photo until I uploaded it, but I like it. I've felt a little fragmented lately, trying to find a balance, so this seemed appropriate.

I don't own one....but it might have to be a future purchase now that I've seen yours! Oh and I really like the photo that you ended up in (multiple times!)

oh, i love shimmer bricks... and all her other makeup!
there's something satisfying about swirling a brush through all those colors, and smearing it across your face.... looking in the mirror and realizing that you don't look like a clown. :)
brilliant, i say. and nearly fool proof!

Oh goodness! I've been thinking about going in someplace to have a makeover done, but haven't because I'm afraid I'll get all excited while I'm there and they make me look pretty so I'll buy $300 worth of makeup that I'll use once, realize I can't work their magic, and then will sit in my drawer for the rest of time. Maybe I should just buy one of these instead?

Great shots of your makeup! I'm going to have to check that out.

And I missed the note about extra credit for outside shots. I did include an outdoor shot in my post, but it was taken last year. Whatever, it's still outside, and the sky is as blue as blue can be!

The first shot is gorgeous, even with a camera phone. The colors are great!

I love makeup! Those look amazing. Oh makeup guru, which one would you recommend for me (can you tell my coloring from my tiny pic?) ;)

Makeup? What's that? But I really like the last one the best.

Love the fourth picture - I'm kinda partial to pink right now. ; ) And the fragments of your reflections are really cool. I love that makeup makes you so happy! : )

Shimmer Bricks look like a fun addiction! I love the picture where your reflection is fragmented. Feel like your spreading yourself out across so many mirrors?

you have fun makeup and VERY colorful... mine is pretty boring. purples, browns, pinks... I like yours more. Oh and the pictures of them... I would never think of that. How creative!

very cool idea about the makeup. And yes I agree completely about splurging for cosmetics...I'm a Bare Minerals junkie!

Um, I want that make-up. I'm kind of mad because now I feel incomplete. :)

I love the "fragmented" photo most of all. I'm in a very different situation but feeling fragmented nonetheless and I love the way you worded that. Interestingly-caught reflection photos are some of my favorites!

Makeup! Great idea! I love the last photo where your image is in each mirror. Very cool.

That last photo is absolutely beautiful.

I like the last photo too. Although you feel a little fragmented lately, don't forget that there is no one more 'centered' than you. You Rock!

The women at Nordstroms thank you for this post. This morning I went right out and I bought a "bronze" shimmer brick and some Dior concealer (the Laura Mercier one creased on me---booo)! and *I* want to thank you because now I not only look human again but I feel pretty too! Very much worth the splurge.

I like the last one too... I know that feeling well.

Fabulous! I especially love the last one!
I have a love affair with make up as well, and own far too much. Half of which I just try on at home but never dear to wear out (like my red liquid eyeliner).
