- My goal for 2010 is to take at least one photo every single day. Nothing in particular, just a photo each day. To keep myself on track for that goal, I started a tumblr account. You can follow along if you want or not, but I wanted to keep it separate from this blog, so as to not be too overwhelming. I really, really want to do this, but as with most things, I'll probably forget about it by mid-March.
- My other goal is to write down every single book I read. Not even necessarily reviews of them, but I just want to keep a list of books I read. Maybe jot them down in a notebook? Or maybe jot them down in a notebook, then blog the list at the end of each month? That way I'd have more responsibility. What do you think? Do you like book recommendations? Or will you be all, Shut it, English teacher?
- Finally, I want to line up a few guest posters when I return to work. The reason for that is two-fold: One, I'm going to need some time to adjust to a new schedule before I can fit in blogging. Two, if I do blog right after returning to work, I can almost guarantee it'll be the most emo, pathetic, sad thing you've ever read. I want to avoid that. So, if you're interested in guest posting about something, anything, leave me a comment or send me an email, and we'll chat. Topic of your choice, bonus points if your topic is: "101 reasons why Erin is awesome."
- I'm thinking of doing a handmade for Valentine's Day gift guide because
my husband needs a shopping listI really like Valentine's Day and plan on giving fun little gifties to many people in my life. Know an etsy shop that'd fit the bill? Run an etsy shop that'd fit the bill? Email me your suggestions! - I'm really excited for Cupcake10 this weekend!

Housekeeping
I don't really have anything of value to put together and make an entire post, just a few random bits. Kind of like when I run around the house trying to clean everything at once but not really getting anything done because I can't focus on one thing for very long. Enjoy!

Instant subscribing to your photo a day blog from me! :) I kind of wanted to do this, but I just can't commit. Couldn't figure out if I wanted to start my very first blog for it, print them all of into an album, or just do it for the heck of it. So nothing happened. :)
The "Shut it, English Teacher" made me laugh. I'm a science teacher but if you have not read "Blindness" by Jose Saramago I would totally recommend it. And just for the record I SO read it before anyone even thought of making it a movie. ;-)
Thought of you last night as I was bawling my eyes out putting my daughter to bed before returning to work today. When's the next break??
Have you heard of Goodreads? I use that to keep track of books (though I'm not very good at keeping up!) and you can invite friends and see what they're reading. It's kind of cool!
And good luck on the picture-a-day thing! I'm in the Project 365 group on Flickr trying to do the same thing! You can do it!
I know you did etsy for the holidays, but there are so many great sellers for Valentines day, too!! I totally reccomened my shop, of course, ;-P, but I'm a huge fan of the 'shop local' button that brings up artisits in your area so you can support your local economy, artists, end global warming, bring world peace, etc.
I started a 365 project about two weeks ago...I want something creative to keep me in balance when I return to work Feb. 1. I'm there with you, sister...I completely understand how you are feeling! I'd happily be a guest poster on your site...not that I have anything exciting to say, however! ;)
Here's my 365:

and the other ones:

Take care...hopefully you'll feel better once you're back in the swing of work. That's what I'm hoping for myself, at least!
I freakin' love book suggestions. Please, please let us know what you're reading because you have fantastic taste.
book list is a great idea, you know I like them. :) And I wanna know what a English teacher reads.
guest post, I could probably come up with something, not saying it would be good...
Valentines Day gift guide? Best idea ever.
i can't wait to see your photos
and you are awesome.
PS- also want book list.
PPS- Just read "THe Power of ONe" and it is now in my top 5 books of all time.
PPPS- Perhaps I might guest post. Be wary of my pontifications.
PPPPS- I just like adding PSes.
PPPPPS- I send you HUGS while you are returing to work.
I'm excited for Cupcake too! I just read the little tidbit about you on the Cupcake blog and could hardly believe your birth story. AMAZING! What a story to tell your children and grandchildren someday!
I second what Julie said - I'd love to hear what you're reading too. I'm thinking of writing a list of books for 2010 and then reviewing them throughout the year. I have a pile of books that I bought in the last few years but haven't read yet. I have a hard time sitting down and reading a whole non-fiction book - I start and then get bored with it. So, my goal is to finish them this year...FINALLY! ;)
I would LOVE book recommendations! And I would never tell you to "shut it."
:-)
Have you read 'Sarah's Key'? Go read it. Like now. Go!
Since about 95 percent of my blog is reading I of course love books and recommendations. We just picked The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as our January Group read for our blogger book club. :)
i do want book recs, and i'll still tell you to shut it whenever i damn well feel like it.
clearly, you do not want me guest posting on your blog b/c it would pretty much be people reading shit that you would write. even the fact that we have twin husbands who are older than dirt.
and i'm following along with your daily photo quest. and hoping that i don't crap out earlier than you do. because i totally think we'll both crap out.
i'd like to think we won't, though!!
but we totally will.
okay, no. we won't. let's not, okay?
loves ya!
I use GoodReads, too, and this reminded me that I need to update it. So, THANK YOU!
I am in awe of all of you that are doing a 365 photo blog. Just awesome.
Do you Facebook? I use Visual Book Shelf on Facebook and I love it, it's a great way to keep track of books, you can even record if you own it or borrowed it's great!
I would like to volunteer to write the guest post, "101 reasons why Erin is awesome". I'll do a good job. Promise.
I used to keep every book I read on an index card (mostly so I wouldn't check out the same book again). Last year I moved them all to Goodreads.com. I am nerdy that way and not even an English teacher! I am a retired teacher, though. :) It lets you connect with other readers, too. Just saw another commenter mentioned it.... My Goodreads user name is pecabo.
Side note: praying for you as you go back to work. Been there, done that, survived it and so did my kids. You will, too. It just hurts while your're going through it. :(
Sign up for GoodReads and add me as a friend! My list is far from impressive, but I love seeing what other people - especially teacher and librarian types - are reading. :-)
Hey girl I love the book idea. I would love to guest post for you if you need me too. I wish I would have been able to go to Cupcake '10
I saw someone mentioned using Visual Bookshelf if you are on Facebook...I totally second that! I'm a bit of a book nerd myself and love looking back at what I've read AND having somewhere to keep track of all those books that I want to get around to reading someday soon.
Also, love, love, LOVE the 365 days of pictures! What a great idea. Looking forward to seeing the awesomeness that will be your year!
Oh, and sure did forget to mention that I died laughing when I read about your housecleaning method...that is so me! I can't stay in one room, so I end up with all the rooms 1/20th of the way done.
I love you! That's all.
I'm following along with the 365 project and I'm using the same site. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Also, I'm not sure what I'm more jealous of about cupcake 10, the camaraderie or the sheer amount of cupcakes that I'm sure will be consumed!!! : )
here's the link to my 365 thingy if you want to see... http://elainea365.tumblr.com/
I keep a list of my books on the blog and update it every 3-4 books or so. It starts as a post at the beginning of the year but I put it on the sidebar so I can get to it easily. It works for me! :)
Erin, I am reading my first John Steinbeck novel, The Grapes of Wrath. It makes me think of you. It is actually my first attempt at a book in a long time. I have not been able to read books since starting my new job, my focus is very short these days, but we are working on that! I like the book so far!
I'd love to know what you've been reading!
Secondly, I will guest post on your blog. I will blog all about my cats! JUST KIDDING. I will blog about you, cupcakes, your babies, friendship. I promise to tell a beautiful story.
If you ever want a guest poster who isn't a mommy, you got it. :)
